I always aim for 910mm on work tops

Anywhere up to 940mm for me - ask the custard, tall ones want them higher, short ones like them lower.

Left to my own devices, I measure the plinth, add 10mm, add the carcass height and floor finish and see what I get.
One day it will all be firewood.

I work the other way round..approx 870/875mm to the Underside of the worktop...

This allows freestanding appliances enough room (But not a huge gap) to be installed.

The finished height will then vary..depending on the worktop thickness.

Thanks everyone. It looks like it'll depend greatly on the floor high point & the customers height.

another point is new flooring
if a kitchen is installed before new flooring then you need to leave enough height to allow the floor to be fitted and enough room for under mounted white goods

Good point Dickie. A mate of mine asked me what height he should set his base units at and I told him 870mm -875mm. Sadly, he started at the lowest point of his (out of level) floor. When he'd finished, he couldn't fit his washing machine under the worktop.    I had told him to check the level of the floor before starting too. Luckily he hadn't tiled.

870mm to underside of work top if it is 40mm thick.

910 to top of work top was City&Guilds teaching.

yes 910 finish on a 40mm for me too

usually works out with a 150mm plinth depending on the cab supplier, most cabs are 720mm, but some suppliers use 735mm carcasses

I've got an Uncle who is a Dwarf (No seriously)

He wouldn't even be able to see the worktop surface without a leg-up.

He used to be in the Guinness book of records as the UK's shortest Sub-postmaster, His dearest ambition was to become the Uk's shortest Postmaster....

I told him "You should aim higher.........."

So he punched me in the gonads...... :hiding:
