Decking project 2013

Post by Call-Joe »

Last summer I was asked to look at what can only be described as a rather nasty large hole at the rear of a friend garden, it had a very poorly willow tree that had been damaged by wire and nails over the years.
I had the tree removed and the roots killed.
As you can see the hole had slopping sides and needed to be shored up, after building a block retaining wall I dug 16 holes and concreted 16 posts to take the decking framework.
This was all bolted up with galvanised coach bolts, the tops of the post were removed and then the decking could go down nice and level, with the decking down and some new fencing and trellis all that was needed was the summer house to finish it off, now you would never know the hole had been there and it make for a very nice place to sit and relax.

Looks good did you have to apply for planning permission

Not sure that the idea of running all the boards to finish at the same point (Pic1) is a good idea, normally the boards are laid in a "Brick pattern"...

I didn't need planning and I finished the boards like that as I was going of en existing deck that had been down a couple years before I moved in
