It's started

Post by ayjay »

Got out of bed this morning at 6.45 to take a leak and make a cup of tea

I'm as naked as the day I was born

it's cold

why is it cold

the heating comes on at 5.30 - (in theory)

why is the heating not on I ask myself

check the roomstat first

Oh yes, it's turned down to about about 8° instead of 18°

The weather has warmed up a bit so the wife has started to turn down the thermostat

It doesn't seem to matter how many times I explain the principle of the thermostat

I still have to go through this performance every spring.

::b ::b ::b
One day it will all be firewood.

Set it to 18 degrees then modify the dial so that it just spins without turning the thermostat itself. Then she can "set" it to whatever she likes!

Noooooooooo!

The complaint is that she either can't or won't understand to let the thermostat do the job.

If it's cold enough for the heating to come on it will - if it's warm enough to not need the heating it won't come on - how hard is that for her to understand.

I know she won't turn it down to 8° in the winter, cos it'll be too cold for her, she's happy enough to let the thermostat do the work then, it's just at this time of year she seems to think she has to take over doing the job of the thermostat: and usually gets it wrong.

I had my missus moaning at me because a couple of loose handfuls of insulation came out the loft when I was working up there - and I mean handfuls.... you could hold the 'ball' of it in your palm. PUT IT BACK!!!!!!!
Don't take it personally......

put a second thermostat on the wall
tell here the new one controls the temperature and the old one just sends data for reference to the control panel
and if she keeps touching the old one tell her its costing money as the control panel thinks the house is cold at 8 degrees so turns the heating on

I like our living room to be a comfortable 18-20 degrees. Missus would prefer life in the bloody freezer (been going through the change for decades now   and has "hot flushes") She doesn't understand that I'm sat there with a t shirt and sweat shirt on, feeling cold in winter, whilst she's sat there with just a t shirt on complaining that it's " Too bloody hot in here." I tell her to take the dog a walk, then she'll say,, "But it's cold outside." .

Funny thing women and thermostats

Our thermostat is in the living room, the other half always whinges that the house is cold yet insists on my closing both living room doors when I leave the house for work in the morning. I have explained to her on numerous occasions that if you leave both door opens the whole house will be warmer but she just can't understand the logic

I set the thermostat to 20 degrees; my first wife says it's too cold.
I turn the thermostat up to 21 degrees; she says it's just right now.
I can't tell the difference.
