you can get "hollow door"plugs for this specific purpose
the trouble with using anything between the handles is half the time the lock gets in the way

have looked for the plugs and through bolts but cant find any yet

they look a bit like these but smaller although these may be worth a look !!!

May cause problems later on, but if you were to superglue the square shaft (don't know the proper name for it), that could provide extra strength on the opposite side of the door to help?

Or maybe use handles where you secure that square shaft with a screw in the handle body to add a bit of extra strength (drilling a hole in the shaft, rather then just using a screw tightened against it)

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

If they keep pulling the handles off, that will stop them escaping surely.

It doesn't matter what you do. If they are determined they will break anything. I remember a glazer telling me that he kept on getting called out to a childrens home to repair a window which was always getting smashed. This window was part of a building which stored food, in particular crisps and sweets :?

He said that he decided to reinforce the window with the plastic stuff that they put on abandoned building windows. I'm not to sure what its called. He went onto say that over the next few weeks he was noticing chips and dents in the plastic but no break in.

He then got a call to ask if he could go over and repair the window due to a break in.

When he arrived he noticed a small burn't hole enough for a kids hand to get through.

He asked the manager what happened. The manager said that a couple of kids used a can of aereosol to burn a hole through the plastic in order to get to the windo latch

Do you think the kids had nothing to eat or what
It may seem difficult at first! But everything is difficult at first.

I have fitted some handles from magnet that fix onto the square shaft with grub screws for extra grip

Ill take that as a no then guys

Supose ill just have to nip to B&Q and rob some out of some door handle packs then  Ive fitted some handles from there that supplied them with the other fitting aswell as the grub screw in the shaft that you mentioned Tim.

Its all the internal doors(theres a few) and doesnt want to replace the handles.

Thanks anyway some ideas to think about.
