Couple of interesting metalworking ones

Post by Hitch »

Did a spiral staircase last week, not done one for a while.
A lot of them are done in kit form, so the treads are adjustable. This one, treads all welded on the central column. Handrail in sections, bolted on.
All I had to do was fabricate it. Painting and install by others.

Another one, a bit different.
Fabrication is bread and butter stuff, not exciting. Fabricated by one of the other lads, but I was tasked with the installation.

Caged ladders and platform up the inside of a church tower for ease of access onto the tower roof. Replaces some wooden ladders which really were not fun to climb, especially the very top one leaning out into nowhere.
Flint and lime mortar to fix into, perfect
The whole lot had to be pulled up the inside of the tower about 6-7metres, through a trapdoor, then the trapdoor put back so we had a floor to work on.
Bottom ladder is about 6m long.

Up the bottom ladder onto the platform.

Top ladder ended up looking slightly twisted, hatch wasn't square to anything, looks okay apart from that view!
