Freesat box

Post by mole81 »

Not quite the correct place for this I doubt so please move if necessary...

Am finally gonna bite the bullet and ditch sky I think. I am thinking initially to go for a humax box. I want pvr facility, min 500gb drive, wifi connectivity and preferably black in colour and maybe netflix too! Does such a box exist and/or are there any new boxes imminent?

I've never paid full price for sky,I got a friends and family code 5 years ago for half price sky and have been on half price every year since then. Every year I ask for the discount for a further year and they have given me it no problem except for last year when they accepted my 30 days notice.
They phoned me back after 3 days offering the 50% discount if I took it for another year!!

Most people I know are on the discount,if you are polite and ask to speak to the British call centre they are more than happy that you aren't cancelling.
It the retentions team that give out the discounts,June is a good month to ask as people are cancelling left right and centre as the footy season finishes, the World Cup is on free as well.

Humax boxes are good quality, as you have a sky dish and its all prewired get a freesat box like the humax HDR-1010S

I have 3 Humax Foxsat boxes and a 1tb Youview box never had a issue with any of them

if you want even more channels than freesat you can setup humax freesat boxes with up to 4 satellites (by using diseqc switching)

Cheers guys, some good advice. Does the hdr1010s come in black (don't like the white!) and does it have built in wifi?

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

Never really found the need for a recoding box as the various 'catchup' facilities seem to cater for anything I miss.

What I certainly do not miss though is Sky - dumped them over a year ago, saved a fortune and used Lovefilm instead. Combined with a 'gold' pass for the XBox (the missus wanted one) we have nearly all the bases covered. Sky is now only useful for sports-mad people (not me) so even with the new options for movies etc we're £50/month better off.

We actually cheat as a neighbor has Netflix and we share 'access'......
