Need help with a tile job
Hi everyone, i have been asked to tile a bathroom for a friend of a friend. She is just after a quote at the minute. She says it's 25 square metres. Also she wants the floor tiling too, the tiles are 18 inch by 18 inch and the floor tiles are 13 inch by 13 inch. she as sent me some photos of the bathroom. The suite is getting fitted tomorrow. What would you guys say is a average price for this job. I live in south yorkshire if this helps. I don't want to rip myself off by doing it too cheap. Also, how long would you expect the job to take. I know everyone works at a different speed and I am not the fasted tiler.

I won't prove a job just from pictures
But you have to work out what your hourly rate is then workout how long you think it's going to take you
What condition are the walls in
Is it just a labour only quote are do you have to supply adhesive?

20 quid a square metre is the going rate where I'm from for ceramic, the tiler supplies adhesive/grout.
Porcelains and slate will be more tho.

Re: Need help with a tile job
Thanks steviejoiner74, this gives me something to work from. Does it usally make a difference with the sizes of the tiles? These are 18 inch by 18, so I am tipping it wont take as long as lets say 6 x 6 tiles.
Thanks
Thanks

I take it you are not a tiler by trade ?jordancorey wrote:Thanks steviejoiner74, this gives me something to work from. Does it usally make a difference with the sizes of the tiles? These are 18 inch by 18, so I am tipping it wont take as long as lets say 6 x 6 tiles.

Make sure you fully consider the layout, esp. window reveals etc, these *can* be more awkward with larger format tiles, you will save a bit of time with larger formats, but not enough for it to be a factor...
Also let's be 100% clear, tubbed (Ready mixed) adhesive is an absolute No-No on tiles that size.
If you are not 100% sure you can do a good quality job, give it a swerve..
