Old age galloping upon me.

Post by Mooncat »

Two days ago I had a TIA, a couple of months ago I had the first one...I didn't collapse, just could not speak or think. Recovered and seemed OK. But the doc sent me for a CT scan. Got to the hospital, and found the machine had just broken! Further bulletins are promised. I'm copying my secret word info to my brother and sister, just in case!
I started out with nothing, I still have most of it.

I'll have to take advice, but I know I don't want to spend the rest of my life with THAT DOG!

Commiserations Mooncat,,,,,, I had a very minor stroke (or could have been a TIA) a year last December. Didn't quite collapse (had to lean against a wall to stop myself from falling) I can remember arriving at work that morning (fire alarm was going off due to one of the girls burning some toast), but can't remember anything for the three hours up until my right side didn't want to do what it was told. I can just remember making it to some stairs so I could sit down, then nothing until a paramedic was asking me who my doctors was and where did I live. Can vaguely remember telling them my doctors was somewhere over there (points in any direction) and I lived in Derby,, "Whereabouts in Derby?" "Erm somewhere I think!!"
In the ambulance on the way, my neck hurt like bloody hell and I kept trying to get up for some reason. Kept in hospital of around 36 hrs then sent home. 4 weeks off work (and 4 weeks from driving too) Had a cat scan within an hour of getting to hospital and then ultrasound the next morning. Around 6 weeks later I had an MRI scan which showed some slight damage on the left hand side of my brain (bloody frightening.) Was put on Clopidogrel tablets (blood thinners) by my own doc. Stopped taking them after 6 months because of the bruising whenever I bumped into anything,, that and was bloody fed up with having a shave at 7 o clock in the evening and was still bleeding from cuts at chucking out time up the club (sodding embarrassing ) Now on 75mg aspirin daily ( and at least my bloods thick enough to stop bruising and bleeding for hours)
Have to admit 18 months on and my memory certainly isn't what it should be. I can make me and her a cup of tea and by the time I bring it through, I can't remember if I've put sugar in hers, (even though I just did a moment before)
It's a life altering event Mooncat, and I wish you all the best for the future mate.
