Plaster fell off wall

Post by avd »

Hey guys trying to drill a wall from living room to outside as trying to install cctv so this is where cable will come in.

Yesterday i tried to drill scurtain board with a sds drill masonry bit and this caused a little bit of plaster to fall off i can only assume this is cause i had hammer on.

Would it be easier for me to go through plastered wall then through brick?

An SDS drill on hammer should only be used on a tough / concrete wall. You have found out why.
Above are my opinions Below is my signature.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

First drill through the wood with a wood drill bit (not on hammer), then change the bit to a set, masonry bit whilst on hammer, to go through masonry, Simples....

Thanks. Don't know if the wife will let me loose with the drill again. Once using masonary bit on hammer will this not vibrate more plaster?

Get through the plaster with a normal drill, then once through to the brick you can use sds. Sds is not for going through wood skirting or plasterboard.

It shouldnt move more plaster as you will be through to the brick at that point!
