Tiling onto odd bits of wood.

Post by DIY_Johnny »

Hi guys, I put in a vanity unit into a bed room and have a very small bit of tiling to do for a small shelf and gap between the wall and unity and a bit around walls. Total area is about 1.5 ~2sqm I just used an old floor board and odd piece of pine I have left over as the surface to be tiled on. Its well solid but wondering can I just use a dash of PVA to prime the boards. Didn't really want to get a tub of SBR for the tiny amount of tiling and have PVA sitting about. It should never get too wet but I suppose pools of water can sit on it.

Also, I am thinking of using this Adhesive and grout I realize its crap but given how small of an area I have to do, i'd rather try avoid buy large bags of separate adhesive and grout. It will end up in the bin afterwards. Will it do the job?

Sure that addy will be fine for small areas. Don't Pva it though, just dampen the surface before tiling to control the absorption/suction..
