I hate spam e-mails, I resent even a couple minutes spent creating new filters to delete the stuff before I even see it.
About five years back I had to change my email addy cos the spam was up to about 400 emails per week.
It's been pretty good up to about six weeks ago when I suddenly started to get spam again, (only two or three a day so far) many of these are fake invoices which have a virus attached which my AV warns me of (as long as I'm sitting by the PC when it comes in).
Most of the others seem to think I'm too fat; but at least my penis hasn't shrunk yet, not judging by the rash of East European girlies who suddenly want to be my friend.
I just delete them unopened anyway whether I've seen a virus warning or not.
Now the question: I'm fairly sure that you can't actually delete things completely from a computer: i.e. Mr Plod is able to find any kiddie porn which had been on a PC but deleted, (there's none on mine).
So, when I delete these emails with a virus attached, where do they go? Do I still have all those unopened viruses lurking somewhere, and should that worry me?
Any answers should preferably be comprehensible for a simpleton in PC terms.

Re: Spam
In respect to deleted emails and your worry, consider them gone.
If you run the attachment and delete the mail, that's obviously bad.
File recovery isn't something that should be a concern in the context of things being ran/executed on your PC.
File recovery for most people is of concern when they sell their computer to someone and THEY can retrieve your files/secrets.

Arguing with a woman is like reading a Software Licence Agreement.

Re: Spam
Thanks BG, I don't ever run or open email attachments without scanning them first, (even stuff from family) and never spammy stuff.BillyGoat wrote:In respect to deleted emails and your worry, consider them gone.

I'll just carry on merrily deleting them, I may even give them an extra curse on the way now I know it's safe.
One day it will all be firewood.

Re: Spam
You could always try Spamihilator .It is free and you can right click on your mouse and get all the setting to block,, keep,, or delete any E mails. It is worth a try and as have used it for years once you put a sender or domain on a block it gets bounced back.
