Hi all,
I am thinking about converting the attic in a 1910's terrace house into an additional bedroom but I have a few queries to clear up first.
From the first floor up to the attic the walls in the two bedrooms are partition, will these needs to be replace by block work to offer support to the attic floor or is it possible to cross timbers the other way to the existing ones in the attic? Also Is there a minimum width a corridor/stairs can be?
Many Thanks
Chris

Hi
You will need planning permission and if not planning you will need Building Regs. In either case get the advice of a professional architect and get him or her to draw up a set of planes and not forgetting a full specification for the builder to follow and price to plus obtain planning and building regs. Don’t rely on barrack-room lawyers regarding this project there is too much at stake.
