Client has vinyl self-adhesive floor tiles to lay in a bathroom, it currently has laminate flooring down.
1) Can you lay these straight onto laminate?
2) If so, what prep would you suggest?

I defo wouldn't lay them on the laminate. Take up laminate and if you are presented with floorboards I'd overboard them with ply. 6mm would be sufficient to stick the tiles down too I'd say.
If it's a concrete floor and it's smooth then follow the guidelines on the product on how to install in that instance. The concrete may require leveling with self leveling compound first.

Oh well, I'll mess up her Monday morning with the good news, see if she's prepared to go the extra cost or leave it as is.
No real problem from my point of view as its only a small part of a fairly large project.

Just a thought mate...You could lay 'jumpax' over the laminate. I've used it before when a client of mine bought foil mat underfloor heating and amtico. We obviously couldn't glue to the ufh mat, so needed an overlay solution.

At the end off the day...laminate flooring.....
Is....a floating floor.....so what ever you want to relay over this type off flooring....
Will not be fixed to a secure substrate.....so liable to all sorts off things...
Lifting/cracking/ect....and a lot more!!

He should be fine with Jumpax tictic. The only time there may be problems is if there's a moisture build up from the original substrate. Although, If a vapour barrier has been used, this should prevent that. Unless, there's big moisture issues...tictic wrote:At the end off the day...laminate flooring.....

Also laminate underlay compression/deflection should be a consideration.
Ultimately, I agree with you. It's always advised to remove all original floor coverings as a standard rule.
