Grout problems

Post by jaylam »

Hi,

I have been a lurker here for some time but have just bought my first home and trying to do most of the work myself.
I have learnt and used a lot of the info here to do things at my new home, thanks.

So last night I grouted my tiles in the bathroom, this morning I noticed pinholes along the grout line.
Yes I used ready mixed adhesive/grout which after some reading (which yes I should have done first) I now understand to be the reason why.

My question is what do I do from here, can I grout over the top with some decent grout or do I have to get a multi tool and remove the old grout first.

Thanks in advance

If it's in a wet area it'll need removing and re-doing, either a Grout rake http://www.screwfix.com/p/pro-grout-rake-cutter/17903
or a multi-tool.

If it's not in a wet area then the question is..... can you live with it ?

Thanks for the quick reply.

It's the wall right next to the bath and there will be a shower attachment on the wall as well so I am guessing I will have to remove it and re grout. I did think this would be the case but just wanted to check.

As for when I re grout I was going to use this:

I assume that will be ok?

Get down to Lidl. Their Parkside multi tool was on offer £29.99 yesterday, 3 year guarantee. Best get a spare set of blades as well :thumbleft:
