Tips on storing timber when I bring it home from the merchant please.
Brought home some planed 220x30x2.4mtrs yesterday, it was very cold and damp outside. Put the timber flat on the floor in the spare bedroom which is the coolest room in the house. The timber had been stored flat by the merchant. Is this the best way to store it?

Yes, flat is best.
Rest the boards flat on timber bearers, spaced at 400-600mm centres (the bearers that is).
And stack them up with bearers between each level, to let air circulate. Roofing battens will do.
Not ideal in the spare bedroom, but you did ask the best way ?!
Turn the radiators down very low in that room. If the timber is to be used for internal joinery, then the longer you can give it to acclimatise, the better.
