I just went to use my DC 725 18volt drill and it is stuck on the hammer action. I can rotate the clutch collar but it's not coming off the hammer action.
Can I fix this or does it need to off for repair??

about Dewalt, but I had a similar problem with another drill-driver that sometimes stuck on hammer, I found that by changing to high from low or vice versa whilst simultaneously twisting off hammer action worked for me...Verwood Handyman

try pulling the chuck forward before turning the ring
if the chuck sits back the ring can't disengage
if the chuck sits back the ring can't disengage
