Just had my kitchen diner tiled and not sure if the edge of tiles has been done to standard. The tiles do not meet the wall and the line between wall and tile increase along this wall from 1cm to 5cm. The short fall has been filled with grout. The fitter has said our room is not square and this has caused the problem.

Photos to follow. Tiling started in our new kitchen which was tiled first to give good base for units and then continued past breakfast bar into diner area. You opinions would be helpful thank you.

Any competent tiler would expect the walls to be out to a greater /lesser degree and would plan the tile layout accordingly, so that there would be a cut edge at the end of a run.. though normally the kitchen would be fitted before any tiling to the walls..

If you are using windows .. right click the pic, select Open with then Paint...

Top left ish click on resize, then "Pixels" in the box with the highest number put in the value of 1200, the other box will change automatically.

Close or save.

Then add the pic/s

Terrible, terrible setting out. Any experienced tiler would take the squareness of the room into account before laying a tile.

Tiles should be set out from the middle of the room (not an edge) so you then get to trim the edge tiles to suit any out of squareness. How did you choose this cowboy? Did he come recommended?

Newpost...You likely don't want to go through the hassle of ripping the lot up just for that. I'd say it'll look a million times better if he gets rid of that grout and puts some effort into putting cuts in there. Looks like he's probably started in your main kitchen - square with the units etc - area and took a punt on the other side (Edit - Just read your original post - forget I said that). No excuse though. I don't know about square as that wall might be pished..

I would assume that the *cough* tiler decided to set up as a tiler on a whim ???

To be fair though, apart from that one wall.....it looks a decent job....the gaps look equal, the grouting looks OK

I'd like to see pics of the rest of the tiling...other room ???
