Insulating on top of wooden floor.
Hi all. Further to an earlier post re: insulating on top of a suspended floor, I have thoughts on buying a thin Airtec type material and laying before underlay and then carpet. In the case of the kitchen, after laying the insulation, putting down a 4mm hardboard before a Vynalay is laid. Is this a viable proposition please? Anyone carried out out anything similar, and did it work ?

Looking at the Airtec website, it's intended for use under floorboards, directly on top of the joists; being of hollow construction (like bubble wrap) I can foresee that laying it on top of the floorboards is likely to destroy the integrity of the material, i.e. the bubbles will be squashed and it will no longer be effective as an insulator.
A good quality insulating underlay and carpet will probably be just as effective and for longer.
