You can move the position of the hinges to avoid the damaged holes.
This is not easy to do and will mean that you will need to re-drill the hinges on the door and this will require a concealed hinge. something like this- http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page ... okietest=1
you can take it to a joiner and they will do this for you. you will then need to re-drill carcass and re-attach door.
Not the easiest of jobs, so you might be better off calling a joiner, unless you are experienced.
Someone may have a better idea so wait and see first!

If you can't flip the door round to swing the other way. And you don't fancy drilling new hinge recesses with a forstner/hinge cutter. I use (white for white carcasses) (wood + tnter for wood carcasses) ronseal extremely high performance wood filler. Its the same sort of stuff as car body filler. If mixed correctly and finished using emery cloth and wet'n'dry, you can re-drill and screw into exactly where the hinge was before. 9 times outta ten, I've managed to completely hide the fact the door has torn out. Plus the work is still standing and the oldest repair is about three years old now!!!! Even I'm impressed with the results!!!
