Hi, haven't tiled for years and have to do kitchen walls. Will be thin white porcelain 6 " tiles.
Substrate is old grey plaster, skim coat is thin and powdery and flaked off in places but otherwise sound..Some white polyfilla or similar patching in places.
Previous tiling was easy to take off, just dabs of some white stuff.
I would like recommendations on adhesive. Cheap white adhesive/grout readymix ok?
Will it stick to tiles and substrate ok?
Other adhesive ideas? Need open time long as possible.
Does it help to prime?
Does it help to dampen substrate and tile back?
Does it help to butter back of tile?
Either 6 or 8mm notch ok?
I intend to cut with scribe and nippers and drill with masonry bit as I used to years back, fingers crossed.
Tips and ideas welcome.
advice please, tiling walls

I like Bal products. Have a look at their site http://www.bal-adhesives.co.uk/products Greenstar ready mixed will probably do it okay but it might need a primer if the surface is powdery. Please do not use tile and grout products as they are sh*t, use proper Bal Grout or Mapei.
