Tiles removed. Whats next?

Hi,

I have started removing the kitchen tiles and what lies beneath can be seen in the attached picture.

What should I do these walls to make them fit and ready for painting? Sand them down somehow? Get them plastered?

Get scraping! You need to get all that old adhesive off then you can assess if the walled can be filled and sanded or whether it is more efficient to simply get it skimmed.
