Num Lock

I know it's probably me and the title should probably read num nuts!

Since Win 10 has loaded, num lock always switches off on restart. In win 7 I did something somewhere to make this always boot 'on'.

What am I missing in Win 10?

Also Win 10 has somehow buggered up my printing address labels from Word.

So far these are the only 2 things, plus 1 bit of software that isn't compatible, that I have had problems with.

Is it a laptop or desktop?

If it was fine before the 10 update, I'd expect you have some sort of softkey software that is causing issues/incompatibility maybe?

When you used to press capslock / numlock, did you get an on-screen display/notification?

If yes - then look in control panel, find it and remove the software or update it.

If it's a desktop, what keyboard/mouse is it?

Its my Aria desktop.

Yes when ever I press Caps Lock I get a notification on screen.

It is a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse that uses their Set Point software.

I have looked through this and cannot find any settings that seem relevant.

So you think it may need updating for Win10?

It does the same on my HP laptop. I do not shut mine down that often but it catches me out as I have set a numeric PIN to lock the computer and I have to remember to turn the Num Lock back on to sign in.

Just remove the software, unless you need it.

check your language and keyboard settings sometimes it defaults to US settings with the win 10 update

also check the power settings in control button

apart from a 'different look', what does Win10 offer over (say) Win7 that makes the upgrade so essential?

Fewer bugs?
Increased performance?
Lower resource requirement?
More functionality?

Unless you really want to talk to your computer instead of typing or mousing, then, according to the computer expert of my household, there's no substantive improvement over Windows 7 (the less said about 8 the better) - she's declined the update, on all of our machines, and has quarantined the set-up file of the downloader for it, in case MS decide to try to sneak it through as they did to millions of unsuspecting users. We're very happy running 7, XP, and Ubuntu, and unless they become unusable, nothing about 10 has tempted us - and who needs all the annoying little incompatibilities to deal with - not to mention having to download all your fave games again - life's too short.

Microsoft seem to suffer the same mental derangement as supermarket managers, who think they have to rearrange the whole bl**dy shop every time the customers have just about figured out where everything they want can be found. If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is.

Interestingly, although I registered for the upgrade, it hasn't downloaded yet. I'm not bothered as I probably won't bother upgrading, at least not in the immediate future. I have a feeling that the "upgrade" is more about what MS want us to have than what we actually need.
I agree with the last part as well. Why can't they leave how it looks alone? I never quite "got" the excitement over operating systems anyway. As long as it works to open the programs you actually want, then that's good enough. Problem is too many of the "improvements" over the years have broken all sorts.

its less power hungry ie. processor and ram, its seem a lot more stable under load too

Once you get use to it, It does make tasks a lot easier to perform

The SSD drivers are more streamlined so disc read/writes are a tad quicker
