About three weeks ago I downloaded Win10 onto my desktop having been running Win7 64bit. It was a clean download once it finally started; I had tried and all I initially got for a few hours was "Working on it" but once it ran all appeared well; I then turned off the computer as normal. Later when I tried to log on I was locked out by the new Win10 rejecting my password; I tried and tried to log on then a message appeared saying my hard drive needed repairing? I ran the repair program on my 1tb hard drive taking forever and when it finished I thought I was in with a chance but no this stupid repair message kept popping up time and again so I re-installed Win7 in disgust.
Not one to be beaten I thought I'd have another go at installing Win10 this afternoon this time I could sit with it and yawn. I clicked on the bottom right of the screen Win10 icon and it brought up a message I'm familiar with "Working on it"; I dumped this message a couple of times but it wouldn't go away so I browsed the web for information. I found a very useful website suggesting the problem was "Windows updates and I had to go into windows updates and check for updates which I did; after the program finished I once again clicked on the Win10 icon and this time I went straight into the download which ran for a while then it brought up a box regarding selection of keyboard? I selected the UK keyboard but then it sulked and once again I was prevented from downloading. Running the Windows updates activates the dead icon.
I turned the computer off then tried again this time I finally got a clean download taking about 90 minutes. Once again I had entered my password without difficulty and Win10 appeared to be working perfectly so I switched the computer off as normal.
When I next tried to log on I first encountered a seascape window which threw me but having sussed this out I was at the password window; DRAT; DRAT; DRAT;
I was again rejected by Win10 having my password thrown out; at this point I could have screamed. However I was now already armed with a bit more information from my first Win10 download; a forum member had kindly suggested possibly my capitals lock had been accidentally caught by me and I was entering the wrong password? I had a look and the caps wasn't activated but neither was the light lit up on the numbers lock? I hit the numbers lock button and now my password was accepted; I had completely missed this on my first download and it was the reason my password was rejected because I have numbers in my password. This simple press of the numbers lock caused me a days work when I re-installed my Win7; if only I had known? 
There are lots of websites showing many problems with Win10 but with patience I've now downloaded mine. The reason I downloaded Win10 is that updates will be available for a long time to come at least I hope so; I was very happy with Win7 but things computer quickly become outdated and obsolete; if I left it too long then decided to download Win10 would I have to pay for it because at the moment it's free?
I'm no computer whiz kid but I've had fun and games downloading my copy of Win10. Good luck with yours.
