VI,
Sounds fine, especially as you can restrict the hours he is on the web.

You can always tell a Yorkshireman,
But you cannot tell him much.
But you cannot tell him much.

By now it's likely you've already found Microsoft Family Safety. For those who haven't it can control curfew times, as well as set time limits.village idiot wrote:software request
what do you recommend for Jr's computer to limit time online?
Open DNS (now owned by Cisco, who build firewalls and other network equipment for commercial companies ( https://www.opendns.com/home-internet-security/) is excellent for protecting you and your little people from unpleasant websites.
If you want such control to be a little more granular (i.e you can reach 'unpleasant' websites but little Johnny can't) then you need a suitable router, such as those provided by NetGear which tie in with the OpenDNS service. This option may or may not allow configuration of curfews. OpenDNS on its own does not.

The windows firewall should be enough to keep your laptop safe from all the malware, spyware and virus. The firewall was not good before, but it has improved a lot in the last few years.
