OK to tile behind a washbasin?
This is my next question! Is is usual to tile a wall then fix the washbasin to the tiles or is it better to fix the basin to the wall and then tile around it? TIA

Re: OK to tile behind a washbasin?
From the sound of it you have done a complete rip-out of the old bathroom and are now re-installing..
Given that, I would indeed tile behind the hand washing basin. The caveat being that you will then need to be very careful drilling the mounting holes for the basin and any holes for waste pipes etc.
Conversely when installing the shower tray and bath the shower tray and bath want installing first, then tiling.
