By "framing nailer" I presume that you mean a first fix gas nailer (or GT90CH) - in which case look around this forum for comments because I own one and I think I did review it a few years back. I'm not the only guy on here with one either. With shipping, customs and VAT I doubt that you'll save much at all. Bear in mind hat the self same gun is sold as a Rawlplug as well and is very competitively priced

The auto feed drivers have a so-so reputation in the USA, so I passed and went Makita

Stapler I don't know, so I'll pass on that

I've got a senco nailer and they are good. Like Job & knock says tho they are also branded as rawl in the uk and you can bag one for around 300 quid inc vat.
The collated screw guns aren't in the same league as a hilti collated gun. I've had a hilti screw gun for 7 years now and it's driven millions of screws and it's still going strong.

All good advice above, even if you do save a few £££'s by importing, how much is a minor repair going to cost, esp bearing in mind that there will be no warranty.. and you might need to return the tool/s to the USA for even a minor repair ??

My local dewalt stockist won't entertain even looking at imported tools that've went faulty.

Thanks for your replies, I have looked at lots of reviews on differents site and of course you get what you expect, one man's meat is another man's poison, so it not easy, I take the point about warranty but will have finished with them in a year or so, the framing nailer and stapler is pneumatic, the auto feed cordless, I want a reasonably priced piece of kit for Diy, but not crap, I want to spend time working, not dismantling and clearing blockages, will keep looking. Whilst Senco's pneumatic stuff has a good reputation, it isn't much used for site work in the UK (added trip hazard, hassle of dragging pneumatic hoses around, added "explosive" failure risk if a line is cut, added safety inspection and the rigorous testing regime required for the compressor, etc), however I did used to see the cordless colllated screw guns at one time (Senco were early adopters of the technology). Times have changed and there are now a slew of firms offering comparable and often better quality products to the trade. This is probably why a lot of dry liners I come across use the Makita guns (partly battery compatibility with the non-collated drywall screw gun, impact driver, SDS, etc - the same can be said of Bosch, deWalt and Fein) although firms (as opposed to individuals) tend more towards brands such as Hilti. So you don't really see the Senco guns much these days.

The makita collated guns jam way too much for my liking. It'll be interesting to see how the new dewalt collated guns fair up. The collated end looks pretty similar to the smd57 hilti end which is an awesome piece of kit.

as an aside
dewalt american tools are made in mexico whilst the eu tools are made in europe
it possible they are non compatable or at least a bit different internal workings

I think the guys that sell the gear here feel it's taking the p*ss for a customer to ask them to fix something they won't buy from their own shop(due to the fact it's way cheaper to buy in the USA)
I don't blame the retailers here for doing so either.
The thing is I wouldn't dream of taking a drill I'd spent 100 quid on back to get fixed when I could buy another one for a hundred quid and it'd still be cheaper than the retail price here.

Having taken on board your comments, I will buy from the Uk, it looks like a Paslode 90mm framing nailer and a Senco stapler both Pneumatic and it was going to be the Makita autofeed, but the jury's out at the moment. Nos

Hilti autofeed no other tool touches them. Very little can go wrong with them.
