I THINK the drill bits on that page are a fantastic bargain. They look the same as a Metabo set I have, which have proved to be extremely good. IF they are the same they have quite a high shine on them and are so much harder than any screw I've used they don't seem to wear out (!) though I suppose one day they must do.

I bought the Japanese saw yesterday and pondered over the 20v drill. The only thing that puts me off is being able to buy additional batteries.

I got the 18v Li-Ion cordless when it was on offer a while ago and have been very happy with it.
You can order a spare battery over the Internet direct from Germany.
I can't remember how much it was but remember it seemed reasonable.
To be honest I'm tempted by the 20v.
How's the saw? I'm tempted by that too!

The saw seems okay although I've never owned a Japanese saw so I can't compare it to anything. With Lidl's no quibble guarantee you can't really go wrong though.

I really like the saw, so much so that I sent the GF down to pick up another 2 while she was out shopping today. With 2 blades and the handle for £8 you can't really go wrong, the replacement blades for my bigger saw are £30 a pop, this Lidl one is just as sharp and only has to last 1/4 of the time for it to be a bargain.

Seeing their weekly offers in advance can be dangerous to my wallet.

I ended up with a Japanese saw that I'll be trying out tomorrow, a pair of pliers, side cutters, nippers and a drill stand.

I'd like a proper drill press but at the moment I don't have the space nor can I justify the cost so a drill stand I can pack away will have to do for now.

I did notice that Aldi are selling a reasonable looking table top drill press next week, for a very reasonable £60, that I may well have gone for if I had the space.

Those drill stands are able to do things that a normal press can't do and are very useful for portable work. I just wish I could but a cordless drill in mine.

I did a little research before getting it and noticed that it is identical to the Clarke branded one which is sold for £28 and apparently there is a little mod you can do to make it a bit more accurate with regards to a little looseness in the plunge mechanism.
I think this one only does standard corded drill chucks as well so sadly I won't be dropping my cordless in it.
