Many moons ago the black and decker batteries fitted the dewalt drills and visa versa. I wonder if the Stanley batteries fit the dewalt?

I bought both today from HB in Stirling. To be honest I didn't really need them but for that price they were worth buying. Do the batteries have a shelf life on them? I was thinking about storing it away in my loft until my trusty ni-cad eventually gives up the ghost.
