Two ceiling roses in kitchen

Hi,
Our kitchen has 2 x ceiling roses. I was wanting to replace with modern spot lights.

The spot lights have Live-Neutral-Earth fittings.

I have unscrewed the roses to see how they are fitted.

The first rose has 2 x black joined together and one solid yellow?

The second rose has 1 x red 2 x red joined together (not connected to light cable) 2 x black joined together and 2 x green and yellow joined together?

Could anyone please help as to how to connect to new fittings.

hi Bazm & welcome to the forum

is there any chance you could take a picture of them plz. it sounds like a simple thing to do but it's just that it doesn't sound 100% correct which is why i would prefer to see it.

i can understand why somebody make have used a yellow but if that's the case, i don't understand why there isn't a blue.

when you say a "solid yellow" do you actually mean yellow or do you mean yellow & green?

Hi,
Thanks for your reply Rich.
As you can see the first image is still attached to the rose.

The second image, I tried to connect last night. I put the 2 black wires to the live and the yellow to the neutral.
What happened was, the spot light came on but unfortunately, the light with the rose connection still in place refused to light?
As you say there is a blue wire but is not connected to anything.

Hope the makes sense.

Just a thought, I wonder if the plasteters have disturbed the wires while
installing a new ceiling??

are both lights switched on and off from just one switch?

I think they are but its the second light that confuses me....it looks like this light can be switched off from two switches with there being 4 wires in the cable (there is a technical term, but I can't remember it

)

Hi,
No there are two light switches. As Rich pointed out, there is a blue wire, which was lodged behind the plasterboard ceiling.
What I have done now with the spot light is 2 x blacks to live, solid yellow to earth, and blue (which was previously hidden) to neutral.
Although I originally had two blacks to live and solid yellow to neutral
(with no blue wire) before I saw the blue wire behind the plasterboard, the spot still worked?

The other light still connected to the original rose will not light? I have changed the bulb.
