Floor boards in a Bathroom

Post by Edz »

Hi. I want to put floor boards (t & G) down in my new Victorian Cottage extension to match my existing, and have it in keeping. In the bathroom upstairs I'm thinking, "Are wooden floor boards OK?".

Is there anything that I should treat them with to stop them getting ruined with water? :?:

Tongue and groove floorboards are fine.

They will require treating to prevent water ingress. A good quality floor varnish will seal them.

Oil them before fitting them, and wax them too if you want them to survive forever.

varnish will chip on a floor

and wax is not water proof and will wash off over time

for the best results use danish oil

to be honest I havent done a great deal of varnishing, I have always oiled floor using danish oil.

Mrs Tim varnished the floors in our house with Diamond Glaze and after 7 years there are scratched and chipped to high hell
