I can beat horsfeathers by a few years and we always did it Dirty Deeds way and were talking hundreds of sashes, one man band and you can do anyway you like.

Cant believe the mixed opinions on this question.
Obviously then there is no right or wrong way of doing this going by the replys given.
Im assuming that because i am going to be finger jointing the sashes then it will be easier to cut these with square stock therefore no spelch block reqd.
If on the other hand i was going to be mortice and tenoning the sashes then i think that it would be preferable to run profiles first so as to ease set up of morticer as i would have a rebated edge to set mortice chisel to.
