Makita DHR242 SDS 18V Drill

Searched for any threads regarding this piece of kit and couldn't find any so....

Have had the Makita HR2470WX 3kg SDS Plus Hammer Drill 110V. Brilliant piece of kit, shame about the need for transformers and cables, makes you ache carrying it all.

Have had the Makita DHR202Z 3.2kg SDS Plus Drill 18V cordless. As good as the above but without the need for cables. Yes if used constantly will eat through your battery’s but with a charge time of 22mins for a 3ah and 36mins for a 4ah, no real issue. Good piece of kit.

The Makita DHR242 SDS 18v Drill ....

Had this for now 6 weeks and it is all I could ask for in a SDS.
Carves through all things and any things .... drilled 6 holes at 16mm each into engineering bricks, 28 holes at 12mm into the road for bollards and approx 40 at 6mm into block for pictures etc ....... it didnt stutter in any way!
Brilliant piece of kit.
Its the first tool I have had which is brushless and I have to say that I will always buy brushless from now on.
The battery just keeps going and the power is superb!

I am glad of one thing though .... the variable trigger .... without this you will destroy walls!
Am I kidding ....... no.

This will PUNCH holes in everything, so use with some care. The first hole I tried to drill with it I blew a large patch of plaster off the wall, in front of me

That said, do I recommend this item .... well yes. Its the last SDS I will ever need and I love it.

I bought mine in October to replace a BHR202 SDS. In theory the DHR242 has the same power, but as the OP says it is a (more) powerful tool generally. Most of the stuff I drill is 7mm holes for brown plugs, but I have been doing 16 and 20mm holes in sandstone and brick for resin anchors without any problems at all. It's a bit slowerthan my 110 volt SDS (Bosch GHH2400), but I'm sufficiently convinced that it will cover most of my needs that I sold the GBH to another tradie a few weeks back. For the really haevy stuff I still have a 3kg SDS (Atlas-Copco), but TBH I don't think I'll need it all that much. Haven't tried mine in hammer stop mode, yet, so can't say how good it is, but with SDS shank augers it's a beaut.
