Coal is up by around 60% as well. And the £ is down against the €, so making my proposed Scandinavian loghouse more expensive.

It's about time there was a Welsh £ and a Scottish £.

That would sort the nationalists out!

We had Welsh bank notes at one time, for example, the Black Ox Bank.

One currency for the whole of the UK is fine by me.

I didn't mean just banknotes, I meant a separate currency like the Irish used to have Irish pounds.

The Irish £ was worth significantly less than a UK £. I suspect that if the Scots were to have their own pounds, they too would be worth less than the UK £ because their social expenditure is so high. I reckon the english are propping up the scots who would otherwise have accelerating inflation like Zimbabwee.

Used to be very handy as well - bring back the irish coinage and use in our vending machines :thumbright:

(I also used to do a great job of converting 10p's into 50p's with sticky tape -they never showed THAT on Blue Peter  )
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
