I didn't mean just banknotes, I meant a separate currency like the Irish used to have Irish pounds.
The Irish £ was worth significantly less than a UK £. I suspect that if the Scots were to have their own pounds, they too would be worth less than the UK £ because their social expenditure is so high. I reckon the english are propping up the scots who would otherwise have accelerating inflation like Zimbabwee.

(I also used to do a great job of converting 10p's into 50p's with sticky tape -they never showed THAT on Blue Peter )
