Red Ants

Post by Scout »

My lawn is full of red ants has anyone any ideas on how to get rid of them! They only seem to be in the lawn and not in the beds either side, last year there were half a dozen areas effected this year it is at least double that. I have tried all the usual powers, granual, etc even sacrificed bits of lawn and used boiling water at times and also tried nematodes but nothing helps and they just seem to get worse. It is only a small lawn and 25% must be covered with ant hills now making it difficult to use or even cut.
I'm beginning to think removing the turf and digging out the worst areas is my only option but would even that work?
Thanks
