Guild Power tools at Homebase

Hi Guys,
Just wondered if the 'Guild' power tools at Homebase are any good?

I'm looking at

Shark Saw £22.93

And

Reciprocating-Saw £24.23

Not sure if 1 tool will do both, i.e. cut branches and with a different blade I guess general \ fine wood work.

Any Thoughts?

The reciprocating saw is cheap enough and it will do odd jobs I guess. These types of saw are handy for demolition type work but they are heavy on blades as they blunt out as soon as you hit a nail or brickwork which is easily done. Okay for branches but not if you are up a ladder trailing a power lead and going though thick branches could be a bit of work.

But for £25 a handy bit of kit to have around.

recip saw [second link]is the cheaper to run as in blades are cheap as standard rather than restricted availability off the the other saws blades

Get the recip, thousand of blades available for those to cut everything you can imagine, metal wood plastic masonry etc. The other saw will be expensive to get spares and not as useful.

What are 'Guild' tools like, or pretty much the same as those in Lidl or Aldi, although the Lidl and Aldi are 3 year Warrenty and Guild is 2 year

For £25 I should not worry too much, it will do what you want.

This level of tool is a far Eastern produced budget tool that the manufacturers build and badge up in the livery of the purchasing company. You will probably find it elsewhere made up in a different name and colour. It looks very similar to the Screwfix Titan one I have. A tradesman would get a Makita or other A line brand as the tool would take a lot of constant use but this Guild one will be fine for what you want out of it.

Using power tools makes so many DIY jobs so much easier. The extra dimension of strength and speed they give you enable you to get the job done quicker and to a better standard, and a powerful multi tool is always handy to have around the house. In my view, a reciprocating saw is a type of device in which cutting action is achieved through a push and pulls methods, but it is costly than the recip saw.

On another note Homebase is now owned by Australian chain Bunnings, hence why their range of BBQ's has expanded

I think they have also introduced a wider range of Ryobi power tools.

They picked the wrong summer to do that... Clearance sale of BBQ's at Homebase now on.

However once Bunnings have cleared out the old cr4p from Homebase they'll get all the best in, they'll roast BandQ
