Biscuits again

Post by sidwell »

Would someone be able to tell me the best glue to use for joining a biscuit? I didnt know whether no more nails etc would be best but not sure if its water based. Didnt know whether PVA would do the job as I think its water based. thanks again

all depends on what your joining !!
how stable the timber is !!!
how strong it needs to be !

and weither it can be seen or not!!

cut a slot the full length avoiding the 15mm either end or any point you are going cut it at

every 4 inches is fine 8 inches if it isnt to structural
biscuts then biscuit lenth gap if high load or warping

continuose for maximum strength or 4mm ply cut into strips

waterbased glues give you maimum grip on the buiscuits as it makes them swell
we are all ------------------still learning

Waterbased such as evostick, titebond etc is best.
The moisture content helps to expand the biscuits in the initial stages.

PU glues arn't as effective i have always been told. Although they have good bond strength.

you apply moisture to help the poly set. therefore expanding the biscuits.

Okay, ill remember that one.... thats a trick of the trade then Sid...?

It doesnt say anything like that on gorilla glue.
I suppose its obvious... other pu products reccommend wetting, like foams
