Filled gap between wall and window frame with foam

Post by TimB100 »

So had UPVC windows fitted. Looked ok until a year or two later and discovered the b*stard had just put a bit of UPVC cladding over a big gap between the opening and the window. Loads of mastic filler went unnoticed as out of view behind a wardrobe.

It was drafty and wanted to fill the gap. A couple of cans of foam later started to worry. 3 days later it was still oozing out of even the smallest gap.
Recently I was doing a loft conversion and noticed a great big bulge of foam in the roof space. It had found its way every where!

Congratulations... you have now successfully installed cavity wall insulation....

Seriously that expanding foam does expand far more than you might expect.

A case of less is more... :thumbleft:
