Hi guys, hoping for some help but I'm a little stuck for time on the job!
I have bought a new light fitting for my dining room as there was currently a one bulb fixture not giving off a new light. I have clients in tomorrow morning and with the winter weather it's just too dark!
I have bought a 5 bulb fixture but now comes the job of fitting it!
I have watched a few YouTube videos but most seem to be old working or American etc so not much help. That's where I found the ultimate handyman video. Although it did help, my fixture is slightly different so could just do with advice.
Attached are some images of current wiring as well as new fixture.
I know I haven't asked anything in particular but if I could receive some advice (hopefully this evening although I know that may be too much to ask!) I could finally gain my sanity ready for tomorrow's clients!

So what you have at the ceiling is this

In the plastic bag you have a piece of connector block. so this is how to wire it

I'm about to try a similar job to the OP so thank you for these diagrams, they're really helpful. Can I just check a couple of questions with you to make sure I understand the logic of these steps?
- The idea of putting the three red live wires into the block is to keep the circuit complete and to allow the current to continue flowing through the wires to reach the next ceiling rose?
- Would it be ok for me to feed the two blue neutral wires from the ceiling cables directly into the connector block that's part of my new light fixture (Philips MyLiving spotlight)? I presume this is fine as multiple wires are shown feeding into the connector block in your drawing. Just wanted to doublecheck as I've got a healthy fear of electrics!

Yes you can connect the neutral wires to the block on your light fitting, and earth and live if present. Make sure you connect the 3 permanent lives together in a separate block unless your fitting has a spare connection just for them.StuartC wrote:wine~o wrote:

Great, today I picked up some Wago connectors (https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Electrical-T ... B00DUJ96N0) that look like they'll be handy for connecting the 3 permanent lives together.
