Mystery Object!

Post by sheilamary3 »

Has anyone any idea what this is? I bought it from a Charity Shop for 49p because I was intrigued and nobody knew what it was! Its about the size of a potato peeler or apple corer so I wondered if it was a kitchen gadget?? There isn't anything written on it except Made in China. It also has a reset button.

There's an app called google goggles available for android phones that identifies objects by picture only. I'd have a look for you but I'm running iOS. Might be worth a try if no one comes along that knows what it is.

No idea at all really. Skipping rope handle with counter? Can't see it being that really, but that's what springs to mind.
Does it come apart? If so a shot of the inside might help. Does it take batteries?

I did that just before I posted. Google thinks it's a musical instrument. :-) Nothing similar there as far as I can see.

No, not yet.

What action causes the counter to register new numbers, (if it's working)?

Is there any movement in the metalwork if pushed towards the counter?

Measuring temperature of something?

I think it was Fidel Castro's pacemaker monitor. Sadly those cheap Commie batteries gave out with disastrous consequences. :thumbright:

This page is what I get. I don't have Google Goggle (I should read posts!) but this is the reverse image search:

I think I've seen just about every cookery gimmick and gadget there is... and I've never seen one of those.....

What happens if you press the reset button ?? and what if anything is on the other side of the implement apart from made in China..

Mmm..don't think its a musical instrument! A guitarist friend of mine didn't recognise it and just wondered if it was something that measured the power in a cable perhaps. It has nothing at all written on it only reset and made in China. The display is on 00 and if I press it just stays on that.
