Christmas pressies in metal

[Hitch]

As usual, plenty of home made presents for people this year... mostly metal.

Firstly a spanner shaped hanger, about 600mm wide. Drawn up in cad by me, plasma cut folded and powder coated. (Powder by a specialist)
Recipient is a plant fitter, so knocked this up to hang his work jacket and stuff on in his garage when he gets home...

Knocked a few of these up for various Grandparents, stainless steel, a sort of directional graining, flick over with a flap disc to those in the know

This one took a bit of messing about, saw the silhouette design sold just as wooden cutouts. Adapted it slightly, to make a lamp.
Plasma cut in one piece, sides folded in numerous directions to form an internal lip for an MDF backboard. LED lights and battery pack inside.

These two, our kids are Harry Potter mad at the moment, so as part of their present (visit to Leavesden studios) I drew up these designs suitable for cutting (roughly taken from a suitable image) for their favorite house, and plasma cut them, had powder coated and then added the highlighted colours. They are bout 400mm long

Do you own the plasma cutter or is it one at work?

I've been considering buying a plasma cutter and there are plenty for sale on eBay such as this;

I've never used a plasma cutter nor even seen one being used but I have watched YouTube videos and looked into it a bit; apparently quality of compressed air is important; the air needs to be dry so I wonder how a standard compressor copes; all my compressors have put out plenty of moisture which is difficult to remove?

Sorry to hijack your thread but I'm interested in plasma cutting and seeing your excellent items is inspiration.

Col, the machine belongs to work, a touch spendy for my personal budget
I have pretty much open access to use it, as long as i'm not taking the pee. Metal is pretty cheap too.
The actual plasma machine is a Hypertherm (about the best there is), mounted in a 3x1.5m cnc water table.
Air supply goes through 2 basic water trap/regulator units which seems to do the job fine.


The lamp, had a few people not able to work out what it is when its unlit, 'a few squigly cut outs, what are they supposed to be?'

I love this sort of stuff. Brilliantly creative and you've realised your vision which is the main thing. Sure everyone will be very happy to receive unique presents with so much thought gone into them.
