wireless keyboard and mouse-useless
what the hell is the point of a cordless keybard and mouse?
It's not like you will take your keyboard upstairs now is it, or your mouse
I'm at the girlfriends and her cordless keyboard (the third one) has packed in and when typing it keeps missing out certain letters
This is most annoying and so will not be answering any posts until I get home as this is impossible

FWIW, I love my Cordless Keyboards and Mice There are a lot of crap ones out there - and I have had a few of them
Stick to Logitech ones and you'll be ok, though
If the dongle is stuck in a USB port at the back, see if you can stick it in the side, or plug into a flying lead (anti-rabbitted of course!). and make sure the batteries are ok, of course

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Carbon Footprint? Is that when you clean out the grate and drop the soot on the floor?
you can always tell when I am using a cordless keyboard or the built-in one onthe laptop ... any missing letters - it is the built-in one
PS - the mouse docking station is effectively the dongle - they get badly affected if they are behind the PC or other electronics.
What make is it BTW?

I have no idea of the make, she has two of them because the original keyboard did not work and so there are two mouse docking stations. She had a rubber keybord the other day that could be rolled upHoovie wrote:Carbon Footprint? Is that when you clean out the grate and drop the soot on the floor?

I just want a normal keyboard and mouse, I don't need anything fancy just something practical

The keyboard I'm using now was made on 22 Sept 1988. It's an IBM keyboard, which I think has never been bettered. Every 5 years or so I pull the caps off the keys & clean them. Plus a cleanout of the rest. Keyboard comes up like new.
I should be dead; I've cheated the Grim Reaper yet again by surviving my third heart attack in June.

It is bloody noisy though, isn't it?
When I was at Dell, they - and all PC makers - emulated the IBM clicky keyboards but suddenly one year everyone went for the 'quiet-key' type instead as they are faster for quicker typists to use (and cheaper to make of course!)
This guy here is like you, Stoday

I don't like those IBM 'M' keyboards myself, but wil agree the typical keyboard (and mouse) suppled with a PC is total pants.
Here is a thought for those who who use Internet Cafes an other public area PCs (eg Libraries)..... the keyboards have more traces of various bodily fluids and bugs tn the average bowl of mints by a restaurant till

Nice one Hoovie
When I was at work I always used an old Compaq keyboard that was virtually bullet proof despite the hammering that it got. One day I got so annoyed I picked up the keyboard and hammered it against the monitor. Half the keys fell out and I had to walk all the way down the office with the keyboard in hand to get another one. Much to the amusement of my fellow workers
I am a lot more gentle these days. Have a Microsoft cordless keyboard and mouse has been really ace.

A poor work man always blames his tools!! The point of a wireless keyboard and mouse is that they look better, neater, tidier!! Our first set worked for ages but then I replaced the mouse for an expensive Logitec one but then over time it bugged me that the keyboard didnt match. So then when I was buying cheap keyboards like £5 ones they didnt work well. So then I got a flexible keyboard that you could roll up and take away with you but it was an American keyboard setting so UHM complained about that. He moaned long enough that I went out and bought a wired Logitec. So now it matches the mouse but its wired! Wired is just like old technology we need to move with the times. Wireless is the way Im going....

cordless mouse is great for gaming, especially shootem ups online, but not so good when the batteries die during a clan war...
the other bad point is when your teenage kids loose there temper the cordless mouse actually hits the wall... least the corded one stops before impact hopefully one day it will get revenge in the return flight!
black eye by flying mouse... serve em right
