Not so much a remake but an original, having been brought up on the Mamas & Papas version I found out they did backing vocals on this version

"I Heard It Through the Grapevine"
is a song written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong for Motown Records in 1966, and made famous by
Marvin Gaye in a single released in October 1968

on Motown's Tamla label.
Originally it was recorded by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles in 1966.
The song has been covered by a range of musicians including
Creedence Clearwater Revival,
who made an eleven-minute interpretation for their 1970 album,
Cosmo's Factory.

I can't think of a cover I've actually preferred when I liked the original anyway.
Some of the covers by the modern over-produced whiners are dire.
(But that's only my opinion, and I sound like my dad talking about the Stones in the 1960s. )
I also hate the thing of putting what i think of as classic tracks to adverts.

Placebo's version of Kate Bush's Running up the hill is a good one,

The Disturbed rendition of the Sound of Silence is probably better than the original,

And while maybe not the greatest I do like this one ,
