check you line for noise - dial 17070 and press 2 it should be silent any cracking or hiss and you have a issue, once finished, clear down (hang up) next step is to do a test from the master socket

post your issue over on the BT forum and the mod's should be able to help, full instructions are on there on how to diagnose issues

Should that be a proper old school plug in phone or will it work with a cordless ?

I'm with VM who now do not cap speeds. I pay £35pm and get 100mb line speed. The TV and landline is included in this this which I rarely use.

With speeds like that KE you'd be better sending a raven

If you're looking for a new provider I'd advise going through Topcashback. The paid up in full about 3 months later.

It's not the provider - we're on a POTS (copper wire) - the nearest exchange is 4 miles in any direction and the fibre liine passes by us some 10 miles away..... :cb

We've had various quotes to speed things up - the best involving us paying £100k of our own money

You test with a corded phone, you should get more speed than that even at 4 miles - technology has moved on and things can change on a monthly basis
