Hello from similar DIYer. Question on posting YouTube diy

Post by Comeinhandy »

Hi to all. I have just discovered this site and although the home screen is not that welcoming, once registered it all seems to open up and be much more interesting. Similarly to the site creator, I have worked on major house DIY projects over the years, but also do any other fixing jobs, particularly cars or electronics / electrics.

I am keen to share my experiences in order to help others and when I've been recently fixing things I've been doing YouTube videos of it.

Now the problem. How do I talk about or share that experience without falling fouling of the forum rules about self promotion if I post a link to one of my YouTube videos? Or the YouTube channel?

Does doing that get me stuck off? Or do YouTube videos not count as self promotion?

I have posted quite a few to ifixit.com without a problem and from their feedback they seem to be helping a lot of people. Here's a clue to the sort of stuff I do: comeinhandynow
Although I'm now in danger of being banned ;)

Regards Jon

:welcomeuhm: Thanks for taking the time to read the rules, you would be breaching the rules if you were just here to promote your Utube channel.
If you were to respond to a current post/thread asking for advice on a certain subject by posting a link to a relevant youtube video by yourself then I'm sure the moderators wouldn't have an issue.
Note the word relevant.
Stick around and help or even ask for advice and you will be most welcome.
