Hollow Sounds and Space under edge of tiles?

We are having our kitchen redone due to problems with our suspended flooring.
As a result we have put a concrete floor down.
We have just had our tiler start on the job - laying 40m2 of porcelain tiles (60*60)

We have just inspected some of the tiles that were laid and have noticed that a couple of them sound hollow in places and when we look around the edges of the tiles, you can see gaps between the base of the tile and concrete flooring.

*We also have underfloor heating which had been left on by the builders before the tiler started the job and was only switched off between 30mins-1hr before hand. Not sure if any relevance to the above?


Is this normal or do we have a problem?!

I have not got much clue about tiling or much else really, but it looks a bit like dot and dab to me and I would not be happy. If anything heavy gets dropped on the tiles ... etc.

I'm not a tiler either.
But if you watch the video the guy is laying them on a bed of adhesive he's spread. How it's supposed to be done AFAIK.

Sorry, I have not looked at the video, only the photos where it is apparent adhesive is not evenly spread under the tiles. Perhaps the fitter is anticipating an uneven floor that would make it difficult for the all the tiles to be perfectly flat if he used a full(er) thickness of adhesive.

I don't know, but the floor doesn't look that even TBH, and they're big tiles.
Difficult to tell how far under the tiles the apparent voids extend, and to know whether the next lot of adhesive will fill them.

He seems (from the video) to be doing everything correctly. A few minor voids are only to be expected.

Having said that on tiles that size i'd also be "Back buttering" them.
