lighting will not turn off

Post by daarrenn »

hi all..

ive got a current problem with a new light i fitted in a bedroom. basically there used to be a standard 60w lighting unit with a single bulb. i put in a new 3 wave single unit to replace it. anyways after i wired it up the light never turns off whether i press the light switch or not. this is the current wiring coming in: 4 lives, 2 neutrals, and 3 earths. I put the 4 lives in to one part of the choc bloc, two neutrals into the other terminal, and 3 earths into the other terminal. so what is it ive done wrong? ive done other lighting in the house before and all has been fine, i assume its to do with the 4 lives maybe? please can someone give me advice whilst its light outside!!

thanks alot, darren.

The four lives should not be together, you have bypassed the switch by doing this.

You need to find out which two wires go to the switch and then place the two live wires and the one switched live wire into a connector block and then the switched live wire coming back from the switch in the live terminal on the light fitting.
