Leaking shower

Post by MollyImms »

Hello,
The sealant in my shower is split and clearly leaking because a couple of my tiles have gone dark, presumably because they're soaking up water. I can repair the sealant but I'm not sure what to do about the tiles. Will they dry out if I repair the sealant? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

TIles have changed colour...

Post by MollyImms »

Hello,
The sealant in my shower cubicle has split vertically in the corner and is clearly leaking because a couple of my ceramic, white, wall tiles have gone dark, presumably because they're soaking up water. I can repair the sealant but I'm not sure what to do about the tiles. Will they dry out if I repair the sealant? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

No they won't dry out. They need removing first, then depending on how bad the water damage is behind you'll either need to hack off any damp plaster and allow the wall to dry out before re-plastering or remove / replace any damaged plaster board behind the tiling.

Re-tile once dry and remove and replace all the sealant.
