Aluminium cutting.
I have a double up and over aluminium garage door that is cluttering up my garden.
1. I tried to sell it on EBay for next to nothing, no takers.
2. I contacted a scrap metal merchant, but he did not show.
3. Plan three is to take it either to the dump or to another scrap dealer.
Problem: I have a mini.
I understand aluminium cuts easily.
I have a small angle grinder.
Any comments?
Thanks.

Re: Aluminium cutting.
You'll need proper discs for aluminium cutting if you try the angle grinder.
I've never tried them so I don't know how effective they are.
You can cut ally sheet with a sharp bolster chisel and hammer. A pair of tinsnips. A jigsaw with metal cutting blade, or a reciprocating saw.
Hacksaw for the frames. It'll bend pretty easily when free of the frames.
Wear appropriate PPE (gloves, goggles, etc.) as always of course.

Re: Aluminium cutting.
I'd put it on the front garden with a sign on 'free to good home'
Gyppos would normally have it away in a couple of hours.

Rip saw. Most medium blades will tear through them easily. Just be careful of the track you run and avoid steel 'implants'...
Don't take it personally......

Re: Aluminium cutting.
I once had to cut one down to fit a temp garage, the ground sloped so had to trim the bottom from zero to about two inches, jigsaw with metal blade, no problems. Nos

Re: Aluminium cutting.
You don't need a special aluminium cutting disc. Just get a couple of the 1mm thick ones... a good brand like Reca/Norton/Klingspor...
it's so thin it'll take minutes to cut it up into bits.
Light pressure, don't force the disc, and wear some safety goggles.
