Breaking QRailing Stainless Glue

Post by BigPeterL »

Hi Folks,

I've just fitted a balustrade and had to glue a 90deg corner to the handrail, unfortunately it has pulled apart 2-3mm and glue has set. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can break the glue so I can re-glue and re-clamp the glass?

I've tried loosening the panes and hitting with a rubber hammer & claw hammer with a protection between the stainless and the hammer face.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Peter

Not quite sure where the glass comes in but A thin hacksaw blade through the glue.

Warming it up usally works to soften the adhesive to separate the joints. If you do that, im not sure if it would set hard again or not though. Can it be taken apart and new Qglue put on? (basically loctite bearing retainer)

I must admit, if its anywhere thats subject to movement or any kind of abuse, I usually put a stitch weld underneath the fittings with a TIG welder.
